Global genomic surveillance strategy for pathogens with pandemic and epidemic potential 2022–2032: progress report on the first year of implementation

Overview

Since its launch in March 2022, WHO has been working with countries as well as partners to implement the Strategy and monitor gains against the Strategy’s key measure of success –“By 2032, all 194 WHO Member States have, or have access to, timely genomic sequencing for pathogens with pandemic and epidemic potential”. This report presents the achievements and impact of the work undertaken by countries, partners and WHO across the objectives and strategic actions of the Strategy. It also highlights planned activities and opportunities to sustain and strengthen these gains, for maximal country impact.
