Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals
The Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals department is responsible for targeting vaccine-preventable diseases, guiding immunization research and establishing immunization policy.
Implementation of HPV Vaccination Programmes
Given the unique target age group for HPV vaccines, a variety of vaccine delivery strategies (i.e. facility-based, school programmes, vaccination campaign) should be considered. To best reach this target group, special attention must be taken to understand young people's specific needs and lifestyles.
Equally important is building health worker capacity and skills to not only deliver HPV vaccination, but also to communicate with girls and their parents about the benefits of vaccination and to create reminder systems for the second dose.
