L2 Digital Adaptation Kit

Translates L1 narrative guidelines into structured components (e.g., decision trees, flow diagrams) for operationalizing within country programs

The CCC Digital Adaptation Kit (DAK) is the second layer of the CCC project (L2). It is a comprehensive reference for any country or partner that wishes to develop a digital health solution to provide clinical decision support in emergencies.

The DAK is designed to facilitate the accurate representation of WHO’s clinical, public health and data use recommendations in emergency settings in a digital format.

The key objectives of the DAK are to:

  •  Ensure adherence to WHO clinical, public health and data use guidelines, and facilitate consistency of the health content that is used to inform the development of person-centred digital tracking and decision-support (DTDS) systems;
  • Enable health program leads and digital health teams (including software developers) to have a joint understanding of the health content within the digital system, through a transparent mechanism to review the validity and accuracy of the health content;
  • Provide a starting point for the core data elements, decision-support logic and other core components that should be included within DTDS systems in emergency settings.

How can it be used?

The DAK supports the adoption of WHO recommendations within digital systems at a national level, by ensuring a common understanding of this content across a variety of stakeholders.

Key users of the DAK include primary health care and other program area managers in emergencies; software developers; and implementers of digital systems.

What does it contain?

The CCC DAK is software-neutral, operational, and structured documentation which is comprised of 8 different components.

The 8 DAK Components are

  1. health interventions and associated recommendations;
  2. generic personas;
  3. user scenarios;
  4. generic business processes and workflows;
  5. core data elements;
  6. decision-support logic;
  7. indicators and reporting requirements and
  8. high-level functional and non-functional requirements.

A detailed description of each DAK component, its purpose, outputs and the required adaptation for national contexts is shown here.
