Launch of the draft EVIPNet Call for Action and partner coalition

Tuesday, 17 November 2021, 15:50-16:10 CET

The World Health Organization (WHO) launched the EVIPNet Call for Action during the Evidence-to-Policy Summit held from November 15-17, 2021. This initiative aims to enhance evidence-informed health policy-making, promoting resilience, equity, and sustainability in global health. The Call for Action was developed collaboratively with global EVIPNet members and received strong support from key stakeholders, including representatives from the Cochrane Library, the Asian Development Bank, and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies. The initiative emphasizes the importance of using evidence in policy-making to improve health outcomes and tackle future health emergencies more effectively.

In conjunction with the Call for Action, a new partner coalition was formed to support sustainable evidence-policy-society systems. This coalition includes senior leaders from various stakeholder organizations and partner institutions committed to implementing the Call for Action. The coalition's strategy focuses on institutionalizing structures and processes for evidence-informed decision-making, using high-quality norms and standards, and ensuring that evidence is accessible, timely, and relevant, especially in emergency situations. This collaborative effort aims to make evidence-informed policy-making the norm, fostering a culture of informed decision-making across sectors and societies.
