Global Database on Blood Safety

The WHO Global Database on Blood Safety (GDBS) was established in 1998 with the objective to collect and analyse data from all countries on blood and blood product safety as the basis for effective action to improve blood safety and availability globally. The global summary reports based on the latest GDBS data provide information on the current status of blood transfusion services and the provision of plasma derived medicinal products, as well as the country needs in improving blood system.

Collecting data of the year 2023 for GDBS

The collection of data for the year 2023 has now commenced. An online questionnaire has been developed for this round of GDBS data collection. It is available in languages of English, French, Russian and Spanish.
To access to the online questionnaire, the data managers will be asked to provide the code (token) to ensure the correct questionnaire for your country is securely open. Please contact bloodsafety@who.int for the technical detail on how to complete the online questionnaire.
