Expected outcome under APSED III
Health-care settings are able to provide critical services for prevention, treatment, containment and response in order to reduce the risk and mitigate the impact of outbreaks and public health emergencies.
Key elements of the focus area
- Relevant infrastructure is in place to underpin effective IPC practices to reduce the risk of transmission of emerging diseases within the health-care setting.
- The ability to rapidly identify, report and manage EIDs in a way that minimizes morbidity and mortality among patients, visitors, health-care workers and the community is strengthened.
- The appropriate infrastructure, policies and procedures required to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with AMR are established or revitalized.
- Comprehensive health facility plans for preparing for and responding to outbreaks and public health emergencies are developed and implemented.
