Climate Change and Health
WHO has been working on climate change and health for over 25 years - advocating, collecting evidence and providing comprehensive support to countries in dealing with health effects of climate change.

Advocacy for Action on Climate Change and Health

Overview

WHO is raising awareness of the climate risks to health through advocacy campaigns, publications and policy briefs, encouraging representation of WHO and health actors in key climate forums, and providing multimedia products which raise the prominence of health issues on the climate agenda and stimulate appropriate health protection by decision-makers.

A better understanding of the risks and effects of climate change on health will motivate and facilitate both behavioural change and societal support for the actions needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Improved awareness will also help health-care professionals to provide leadership in supporting rapid and comprehensive strategies for mitigation and adaptation that will both improve health and reduce vulnerability.
