The goal of the Child Health and Development Unit is to end preventable child deaths and promote the healthy growth and development of all children in the first decade of their life.

The Unit leads development of guidelines and coordination of activities to prevent and manage common childhood illness, address malnutrition, and promote children’s development.  Other areas of work include integrated services and their quality, data to track progress, and research to generate new evidence of effective interventions.

The Unit work closely with UN and other partners to strengthen primary health care and achieve universal health coverage for all children.
